Princess (flash series)

2 out of 5

Directors: Trey Parker and Matt Stone

…And then Trey and Matt were asked to do a shockwave flash series, given free editorial reign.  ‘Princess’ was born.  For two episodes.  No more were requested.

…But it’s understandable.  Here the team are functioning in early SP / Team America mode, where the goal is to push the limits, only now we’re TOTALLY free and so, and so, and so.  The concept is funny enough, naming the series after a cute little dog who happens to witness massive atrocities, and playing up the imbalance by having a heart-filled sing-song intro all about Princess when she (?) really has no function except to be there.  To witness a man blowing his wife’s head off with his viagra-fueled ejaculate in episode 1, and then a necrophiliac doing the dirty with headless in episode 2.  Lord knows I have no problem with Out There material, but Princess really isn’t all that funny.  It has a nice animation style (reminiscent more of Justin Roiland’s Channel 101 animated stuff than South Park) and the voice acting fits all the roles, but beyond the concept, you don’t really chuckle so much.

Easy to watch, but taking a step back from the edge might’ve made it a bit more enjoyable.
