Guinea Pig 4: Devil Doctor Woman

2 out of 5

Director: Hajime Tabe

So stupid. But I laughed a couple times, and the overall weirdness of this Guinea Pig entry merits… some… thing. The GP series is notorious in the gorehound underground, so #3 and 4 (Devil Doctor Woman was, according to wiki, filmed 4th but released 6th) are the odd films out, being more slapsticky. 3 still had some gore, used for comedic effect and fairly well done, but 4 is more just splashes of red and some gross-out humor. The N-flix description seems to be for film 2, so ignore that. DDW takes the form of several short sketches showing the odd maladies effecting the good doctor’s patients, and her (or his, depending on your sensitivity to pronouns, as the doctor is a transvestite) “treatment” of these patients. Some sweat blood, some have violent multiple personalities, some are chased by homeless guts, so vomit aliens… It’s very stupid, and the gore is more inline with slapstick props than anything done to convince us of reality. This makes DDW a welcome breather, along with the equally boring/silly/stupid #3, in the Guinea Pig series.
