Air America: Operation Jaguar

1 out of 5

Director: Philip DeGuere

So, to begin: who is watching this movie? Lorenzo Lamas fans? That’s my guess. If so, this’ll probably be near the bottom of your list, as you get only a couple high kicks before some wandering voice-overs that try to make the plot seem like it’s the end of democracy, or something. Wait… plot? When did that happen? Lamas is called into OSI to work TOP SECRET OPERATION: JAGUAR, which is all about extracting some knowledgeable money-hustling guy from some non-America place. Then there’s a slow-mo scene with bikes and guns, and then the operation goes horribly wrong! (Oh, that was a spoiler, sorry.) That’s about the end of the suspense, twenty or so minutes in. 60 minutes left of voice-overs and shots of planes! Sorry to be trite – I’m normally forgiving of low-budget, but it seemed like this was written by ten people, each with different plot intentions. And then it ends with Lamas writing in his journal, cross-legged, reflecting on what he learned during the 82 minutes. How are these movies cost effective?
