3 gibbles out of 5
Director: John Lafia
Now this is a… sequel, which is weird, because I’m not quite sure what the prior film would be about. Secondly, it’s made for TV, and aired as a mini-series. So that should give you an idea of the pacing and quality of special effects. That being said… it’s not bad. It’s probably the definition of average. The acting isn’t spectacular but is a couple steps above being phoned in; the plotting feels like it’s strung along to support a mini-series, but they balance it fairly evenly; the science is probably ridiculous but they breeze past it and hope you don’t notice. If you’re a fan of disaster movies this is okay filler. It’s pretty viewer friendly, pretty predictable, pretty forgettable, but not hard to watch.
