The third in a series of appropriately titled nails-through-audio-medium releases from Unholy Triforce, stepping through fidelity from cassette, to vinyl, and now CD. I do appreciate the design and consistency of this project – here the crucifixion is nine black nails through a black CDr, seated in a PVC case so you don’t get all pokied by the additions – and I once again made a sincere effort with an AA “anti” release to try to make the thing “listenable” by pulling out the nails, but they’re well in there, and maybe my efforts aren’t enough that I’m going to get a hammer and try to do this right. Which is too bad, because the recording on this thing also again sounds pretty cool: “Saturating bass frequencies with distortion. …(Beginning) as an ominous, lo-fi organ sermon punctuated with crackling static quickly devolves into extreme low-end churning and an increasingly intense wall of wailing, grinding noise that ebbs and flows throughout.” I’m down.
But ’tis not to be, my listening to it, and so I’m left just to document that this thing exists, and some folks, like me, own it.
