Okay, so we’ll assume that Titan Comics is doing a-okay and that these previews have been doing the trick, since they’ve been coming out a duff of a lot more often. This is pretty much the same exact preview book as last time – same layouts, same format, same front checklist, same rear backlist, same oddly upside-down rear cover. Which is really the reason I’m knocking a star off here. When the preview books are spread out, you get a real sense of ‘newness’ to them; but this time, we’ve seen most of these titles previewed already, and their big property is still Doctor Who, so that’s what’s propped up front. I realize only an idiot would rate a free preview book, since the purpose here is more of a sales pitch, but I am using these with that understanding… just as an already ‘pitched’ reader, I suppose. And I find myself a dash less wowed this time by what’s coming up.
Still, though, I’d say Titan’s preview format is really the way to go, with concise but clear write-ups of each book and well chosen preview pages (reproduced small but readable) that really give me confidence that I’m getting a legit gist of the book shown.
