3 out of 5
Collecting an online series that’s meant to bridge the gap between volumes 3 and 4, ‘Roadwarrior’ is on par with Mark’s first volume 4 arc: fun, but somewhat back to hero antics as usual. DD tackles a copycat robot who ends up belonging to The Mad Thinker, defeating the bad guy with some classic “genius scientist falls for the what’s over there” trickery.
The dialogue between assistant Kirsten and Matt on the plane ride over to San Fran (that has to set down midway due to weather, for the setting of the story) is what the meat of this web-series should have been; letting it go off on a bad guy hunt adds nothing to the current DD world.
Still, average Waid is an entertaining superhero book, and Krause’s shadow-heavy art ends up working well enough with current Murdock’s cheeky sensibilities. 4.99? Maybe not. But if stumbled across in a discount bin, it’ll do.
