Fair enough: it was my choice to buy this. I didn’t flip through it ahead of time. And Avatar did this with ashcans before… I think… except then I feel like it was regular sized, and had a small blurb from Ennis as to what triggered the series (this was for ‘303,’ maybe?). I also think it was a dollar. Am I making all of this up? Probably. Regardless, charging 2.99 for a 16 page flipbook with no original content – it’s the first few pages of Crossed #50, not even caring to try and cut it off at a logical point – in black and white, with some Jacen Burrows covers and ads for upcoming Crossed series… fucking bold. Ooh, it’s limited to 5000. But fucking hell, it worked, didn’t it, because I bought it. All’s I’m saying is that last time I at least had a niggle of care to hold on to the ashcan, justified by a sliver of unique content. This time? I paid regular cover price essentially, I suppose, for a collector’s item. Had I flipped through it ahead of time instead of being an eager beaver sucker, I would have left this on the shelf. I am to blame. My revenge is to give it one star.
