SpongeBob Comics (#43 – 48) – Various

3 out of 5

These issues are actually an important step forward for SpongeBob Comics, as they start reaching far and wide for new, varied contributors.  Alas, many of those contributions are rather ‘meh,’ and then we’re force-fed a pretty awful one as a full-length story in issue #46, by Bob Flynn.  #47 follows in this unimpressive, mostly unfunny suit, albeit with a bunch of other artists, but #48 puts us back in chuckles territory with Tony Millionaire and Mark Martin contributing to an all-Gary issue.

Issues #43 – 45 are pretty damned classic, with a fantastically arted contribution from Jerry Ordway and a lotta funny from our regular writers.

The covers and back covers are becoming just as reliable sources of genius.
