2000 AD (prog# 2050) – Various

3 out of 5

“Epic thrills!” the cover boasts, on this jumping-on bumper prog, but while all of the tales within are conpetently executed and, admittedly, clear in terms of intention (even, at this point, Slaine and Indigo Prime…), I don’t know if any of these strips especially would get me hyped up as a new reader.  That is, the ones I’m usually excited about – Grey Area, SinDex – have remained the same, and the ones I’m usually cold on haven’t changed.  Also a pretty wishy-washy Dredd opener.

As this is mostly all new beginnings – save a very meh new-to-the-progs James Robinson scripted Rogue Trooper, a teaser for more Deadworld, and a faux text interview with Zenith that was good but clearly not Morrison – I’ll save the bit-by-bit review until these thrills are in full swing.

An average issue, more for already converted readers than new recruits.
