We Are All Me – Jordan Crane

5 out of 5

Pretty remarkably ‘out there’ and psychedelic for a kid’s book, Jordan Crane’s ‘We Are All Me’ starts small – referring to oneself – and expands into the cosmos and beyond, before wrapping back around to tie that grand, universal picture back to the individual.  The brief editorial blurb in the back explains Crane’s inspiration from a conversation on ‘interindependence’ – connectedness – and while that could be arted up in hippy dippy ways, ‘We Are All Me’ makes the sentiment striking, both via the simple words, stepping from micro to macro, and the gorgeous visuals, which are surreal, flat, pop-colored takes on each of those steps.

Really rewarding just as a small art book, but also well represents the concept Jordan was hoping to get across.
