Non-stop laughter? Hardly. SNL is a staple in the sense that its been on for a long time. But I feel theyve had long enough to be rejuvenated and it just hasnt happened. Who can say why? There are talented cast members and certainly some stand-out sketches, but its been too long since the show has had any element of challenge or danger (or bite) to its comedy. Too much self-awareness (Look! I’m hosting! Look at me, making jokes!) to be truly funny.
