3 gibbles out of 5
Director: LeVar Burton
Blizzard is a completely competent movie for children. It’s respectful, funny at times, and layered with enough excitement to keep the story interesting. It is also acted well and doesn’t lay on its morals too obviously or thickly so as to turn off those wary chitlins. Is it amazing? No. It doesn’t have the layers of Iron Giant or its ilk, but this is completely acceptable family fare. It is even above average with its treatment of characters, careful not to cast anyone as completely enemy or hero. It is also up front about grief. Recommended.
