2 Sides of Life

Director: kevin clark

This goes into the “low, low budget” category, and possibly its sub-category of “I might’ve made this movie with one camera and a poor mic while I was half-asleep and I sort of forgot about it.”

Okay.

But first, the plot: there’s a lot of concern about money and how to get it. I think there’s a goal of becoming musicians with that money, but I could be getting this confused with the many other movies made in this genre. And anyhow, the easiest way to make that money is by doing something illegal, and then some people end up dead. One star, and a flippant description.

Obviously I’m not too pro this movie. But when watching movies of this nature, I do understand that you can’t be watching it for production values or intricate plot weaving, but I do feel you can absolutely watch these movies and hope to find a grain of… something. Some kind of energy that should be apparent from what it takes to put a film together. And that simply does not come across. This reeks of one or two people who thought they could become movie stars by recording a stupid idea on a digital camera. Even if this life mirrored my own in any way, I do not think there’d be anything for me to latch onto in this movie, as everything is detached, shallow, and hastily done, unless, of course, I’m one of the ten people that worked on this thing and I could say: “Hey, I set up the one light for this scene.”
