There’s my LoJo! Lately I feel like we’ve been missing out on the spycraft, detective, kick-the-door-down-shouting “Justice!” pulp of this whole bag, but it’s back in full force, with the unique and colorful art of Toni Fejzula (Rucka’s recent Veil), which brings a lovely un-shadowy dynamism to the book. Herein is a small puzzle of a glass-blower, and an assassination attempt, and people in disguise, and people speaking accents. LoJo’s gang is around, claws get burned into foreheads, and our man is one step ahead of everyone. And within one short issue, we get a whirlwind glimpse of the life and personality of the dame mixed up in this business…
After some wandering work from Arcudi and the stalling / puzzling build-up to the end of his B.P.R.D. run, it’s great to see him knock out such a solid single issue, which gets a huge, helping jolt of energy from Fejzula.
