Weeoo howdy, instrumental fans, it’s a skree-onk squiggle squiggle guitar party, at nary two minutes a track!
Recorded cleanly and with absolutely zero filler, Oh My Satan is a surprisingly repeatable listen, thanks to Passe Montagne finding the sweet spot between energized and showy; that is, although the pace is quick and the songs short, the group manages to knock out some solid riffs for long enough to ride a groove before moving on, and the intention seems more to rock out than strictly blow your mind. I’m all for instrumental gurus blowing my mind, but that stuff cam get exhaustive; by the same token, when you’re Oxes and just playing hard and fast, after awhile it starts to blend together. Passe Montagne get in, bob your head, get out, no fuss.
Complex themes? Fancy production tricks? Nah, just some sweet-ass, fast-flying noodling with rolling drums and live but crisp production.
