Having fully established by now that I’m one of the ten out and proud lovers of GVSB’s major-label freak*on*ica, it should be no surprise that I love A-Side Park Avenue. Its an awesome single, and, I think, an ideal representation of the band’s signature 4am bar stomp blended with Geffen Records dancey gloss. It surges and fuzzes and head-bobs.
B-Side Miami Bassonatic remix of American White Dwarf is ante-upped to single status here as well, with the remix – surprisingly, for a remix-hater like myself – taking one of the cheesier songs on the album and roughing it up by stripping off some of the eye-rolling lyrics in favor of driving up the beat and distortion. It’s pretty frikkin awesome, actually. …But then I have to dock a star foe some silly 90s-remix effects before the track’s final breakdown. Alas.
Issued as part of a set of singles for the album on the band’s Akashic label.
