A total blast of punky energy that likely only works in short form, the eye-rolling crassness of Lefty Wankers gets subsumed by this energy… but also by a somewhat self-aware application of it, with its manipulated dirty-pulp magazine cover art (depicting our mustachioed and bearded presumed bandmates’ faces stitched on to the bodies of buxom posing ladies) a prime example of this. So if you’re prepared to cringe due to that bandname and likely double entendres from tracks like ‘We’ve Gotta Explode,’ cool your jets a bit: the lyrics are pretty much just a bundle of shouted phrases, and their shouted with prime, singalong gang vocals anarchy, mapped to some truly wondrously catchy riffage. This isn’t exactly three-chord punk, but it’s got a skate-punk vibe that’s cycled through an indie looseness, like Wax at their most sped-up. A clean, pummeling recording and get-in get-out song structures seal the deal – six songs fit comfortably on a 7″, but feel complete in and of themselves, with just a hint of “hey, these songs are starting to sound a bit similar…” creeping in past the midway point, hence the short runtime being a boon.
