4 out of 5
Okay, I’m a little pisser for reviewing a Kickstarter unlock addition, but I guess my reason for doing so is: in some future where someone stumbles across one of these, and they go searching the internets, maybe my review is that one thing that tells them what it was / is (which will be super easy with a very specific title like “GHA mini-comic”).
This is a fun, folded-up 8″x11″ mini, where after you get to the third page you unfold and view the backside as the next panel, then fold it back up to view the ending. It is suitably GHA ridiculous – Star Fighter punches some crabs, gets mutilated, and watches TV – but is a lil’ miracle of Browne’s compact plotting, telling a “full” story across 5 pages and a few panels, and probably stuffing in more content and action than a lot of 22-page books, while also keeping his black and white sketched linework dang clear.
I mean, it’s totally pointless (the only reason I can think of to dock a star), and surely a variant on some gags we’ve seen before, but it was also a pledge unlock – a freebie thank you for pledging to his GHA — Again?! first issue – so it’s also super nice of me to judge that.
