Harrow County (#12) – Cullen Bunn

…Broken!

For those playing along, I last mused that Harrow County was starting to hit the brakes a bit too noticeably.  With issue 12, we’ve come full stop.

I do appreciate the guest artwork from Hannah Christenson, whose style I enjoyed in Dragons, though her whispy, wind-swept lines are better suited to this type of tale than the large-scale effort that fantasy title required.  But again, we’re completely off-map.  Emmy hears of a haunted house in another neighborhood, and goes to see if her witch powers can be of use to kick them ghosts out.  Sure, sure they can, and in fact they can be put to use without any plot or character development at all.  And also, I’m going to fuck up the house you live in, because spectacle is easier to write.

This is a passable ghost story, but it’s a pointless inclusion, at this point, as part of the Harrow County narrative.
