Bloke’s Terrible Tomb of Terror (#1) – Jason Crawley

2 out of 5

Another Eerie / Creepy-type anthology mag, ironically mocking the lack of such mags in its opening page when there at least enough for me to start by describing this as ‘another…’

I’d say the main star here is artist Mike Hoffman, whose light, limber style has a 70s vibe to it that fits best with the vibe; his opening tale with Jason Crawley writing is okay, ending on an offbeat, but the concluding tale he arts and scribes is prime stuff, very original and weird.  Inbetween you get more typical indie type efforts of mixed quality, with the latter half of the book slipping in to too much cheesecake and then some rather amateur art that drags the overall quality of the book down a notable grade.

Anthologies are, of course, always a mixed bag, but the first issue of this set errs just on the worser side of that mix to merit much interest in checking out the next one.
