Bezoar – Various

3 out of 5

A bezoar can be defined as an undigested mass.  It’s a good name for a jam comic.

This first (only?) issue of an anthologyish mini-comic, Bezoar boasts a full roster of notable indie names – Drew Weing, Joey Weiser, etc. – each doing a page or more vaguely dealing with monsters.  As befitting the mixed crew, the tone varies between more youth-friendly and more darkly comedic stuff, with some outliers (Michele Chidester) contributing more artsy, non-sequential stuff.

The colored wax-paper-over-clean-lined-paper cover is brilliant; mucho credit to the unlisted creator (David Mack?) for making it really eye grabbing.  The contents, alas, are a bit too light and snippety to merit rereads, though if you’re a fan of any of the featured creators, their 2-4 pages wont disappoint.
