Battlepug vol. 2 HC – Mike Norton

3 out of 5

…We pick up right where we left off, Moll reciting to her two pugs the tale of the wandering Warrior, the Scribbly-Scrabbly homeless guy, and the Battlepug, in search of the villainous Catwulf for destructions in The Warrior’s past.  Although we soon add to the troupe with a foul-mouthed young mage, Bryony, and the battle-ready Black Sasha, volume two inevitably feels a bit more plain than the preceding tale, because we’ve moved past all the random introductory stuff and are now at the peak of a first story-telling hill: motivation.

Norton gives us a battle with Catwulf, and some other giant animals, and it’s well arted and colored and widescreen-presented, but nothing very different from what we’ve seen before.  Which is to say: it’s entertaining, but easy to walk away from.
