Label: WeMe Records
Produced by: Andy Jenkinson
A bundling of two early Ceephax releases, from near the start of his career: FSK 005 and Acid Quakers.
There’s nothing extra here beyond the convenience, but that’s fine: WeMe prices things right, and this is an affordable way to get two fantastic releases in a long-unavailable physical format. More importantly, they sound perfect – rich, deep – and are at least on par with the current digital versions, though I think the vinyl helps bring out the layers a bit more.
The reproduction of the art is smart: cover art for each release is on the front / back, though I guess it’s a bummer we miss interior art. But in its place we get a vintage gatefold image of Andy at his workstation, and some unique stuff on the B-side labels, I think. Arguably, though, it’s nice to have all the original art. But I’m moreso knocking a point off for something silly: a flub in the tracklist for Acid Quakers 1000, which repeats the fourth track from FSK 005.
