5 out of 5

If this were priced more cost-prohibitively, maybe I’d be more critical. But if that had been the case, it likely would’ve had a more deluxe presentation, which could’ve upped the rating as a result. Maybe I can snip at the fact that the boxset is not complete, because there was a youtube series that happened, and then another season the year after the box came out, and the movie (Plantasm) that this box was likely tied into to support…
But, come on: you get 11 seasons of the show – several of which had never been on DVD – plus the first movie and all of its extras, and even at its list price of $100, that’s a ton of material. (Since release, I’ve almost never seen it at more than $80, I should say.)
The DVDs that had already been released are here in full: they are the original discs, no changes, meaning all the bonus stuff is intact. And for those in the physical media market, you’re familiar now with these huge-ass budget boxsets, which are pretty flimsily packaged in a kinda-sorta-closes case and a 2-disc per side flipper that the discs easily fall out of, but we at least get a legit insert with this box that lists all of the eps per disc plus the extras found on each disc, and that’s honestly super appreciated.
Plantasm being not included is understandable since it was new at the time; I wish the Youtube shorts were here, but those had been released only a few months prior (so perhaps before production of the box), plus I’m sure there’s something with getting Youtube material onto a physical medium, as I’m not sure I’ve seen that happen too often. Maybe there’s also a world where I point out that we need a bluray of this stuff, but, come on, that’s always a losing argument, and also: are we gaining / losing that much fidelity for a show like ATHF?
“Baffler Meal,” as y’all know, was the Space Ghost ep in which the Teens premiered. When the Aqua Teen DVD releases ended at volume… 7? I never would’ve guessed we would’ve gotten not only another movie, but the remainder of (at the time) the Adult Swim eps on a physical format. So even with some gripes – which are truly minimal – this is a must have for any ‘Teen fan, even if, like, me, you already owned what was out on DVD.
