大森靖子 – マジックミラー / さっちゃんのセクシーカレー

It’s hard to rank these album singles too highly when they generally just consist of one new song; it’s definitely very subjective – how often are you going to dig out this disc for that one track when you can get the other two on Tokyo Black Hole? So: it’s a matter of how well the songs play together, and how “worth it” that extra song is, which I generally rank by how unique it is amongst Seiko’s catalogue.

私は悪くない is acoustic, and multi-tracked, and it’s a pretty solid entry: Seiko gets weird and emotive with the vocals, while the instrumentation is kept steady, making it a good balance between some of her styles, and a nice “surprise,” in that it remains rather gentle in music while her singing adds the quirk.

The other songs, as mentioned, are from Tokyo Black Hole – マジックミラー, さっちゃんのセクシーカレー. They rock. I do like the third song enough to say I’m glad I own this, though it doesn’t quite edge over into the kind of totally wild ear worm or super affecting song that might make this a required purchase.
